Frequently Asked Questions
Everything men ask before their first system — answered without the marketing gloss.
Choosing your first system
Will it actually look real?
Yes — modern systems are undetectable when matched correctly. The two things that matter are color match and density. Every color we sell is an exact factory stock shade photographed on a real system, and our free photo match confirms yours before we craft. If you're over 40, choose a lighter density (80–100%) — the most common beginner mistake is hair that's too thick to be believable.
Lace, skin or mono — which base should I pick?
Thin skin (our Mirage family) is the most invisible and easiest to attach — best for most first-timers. French/Swiss lace (Parisian, Geneva) breathes better and suits active lifestyles or hot climates. Mono (Meridian, Sterling, Atlas) is the most durable and lasts the longest. Every product page lists exactly who each model is for.
What size do I need?
Most men fit the standard 8"×10" base, which your stylist (or you) cuts down to the exact shape of your hair-loss area — each product page lists the minimum cut-down size. Measure front hairline to crown, and temple to temple; if your area is smaller, any stock size works.
I have grey hair — can you match it?
Better than anyone. We stock synthetic grey blends from 5% to 50% (e.g. #1B20 = off-black with 20% grey) at no surcharge, and real human grey hair (HG codes) for the most natural silver finish at a small crafting surcharge shown on each product.
What if I choose the wrong color?
Send us two photos in daylight before ordering — the free color match confirms your code. And if it still isn't right: 30-day returns, every color included, first return free.
Wearing it — daily life
Can I swim, train and sweat with it?
Yes. With a proper adhesive bond you can swim, lift, run and shower normally. Skin bases with a full bond handle water best; rinse chlorine or salt water out the same day. Thousands of wearers train daily.
How is it attached?
Medical-grade adhesive tape or liquid glue, applied to clean skin — first-time application takes 20–30 minutes and gets faster every time. A bond typically holds 2–4 weeks between re-applications. Our guides walk you through it step by step.
Can I sleep with it on?
Yes — you attach it and live your life: sleep, shower, gym. You only remove it every few weeks to clean the base and re-bond.
Can I cut and style it like real hair?
It IS real human hair — 100% Indian or European depending on the model. Any barber can cut it in (tip: say it's a hair system or take our uncut-look guide). Heat styling works; keep it under 180°C and use heat protection.
Will people be able to tell?
Not if the color and density match — that's why we insist on the free photo match. The hairline is the giveaway on cheap systems; ours use single split knots and bleached knots at the front hairline (see each product's spec sheet).
Ordering, shipping & payment
How long until it arrives?
Stock systems enter crafting within 48 hours and ship express with DHL/FedEx/UPS — 5–9 business days door to door, worldwide. Pre-cut styling adds 1–3 days.
Do you ship to my country?
We ship worldwide — over 130 countries — free on every order, fully tracked. Full details on the Shipping page.
Is the packaging discreet?
Always. Plain box, neutral sender name, accurate but generic customs declaration. Nothing mentions hair.
How can I pay?
All major cards through Stripe's secure checkout — and interest-free instalments where available in your country. Your statement shows a neutral descriptor.
Can I order more than one and save?
Yes — wearers typically use 4–6 systems a year, so spares make sense: 2 of the same system saves 10%, 3 or more saves 15%, applied automatically in your bag.
Returns & guarantee
What if it's not right?
30-day money-back guarantee on every stock system — uncut, unworn, hair unwashed. Your first return ships free and we never charge restocking fees.
What about crafting defects?
Repaired or remade free of charge at any time, return shipping on us. Photograph the issue and email support@follicstudio.com.
Are grey / HG colors returnable?
Yes — every color we sell is a real stock color, so every color is returnable under the same 30-day guarantee.
Care & lifespan
How long does a system last?
It depends on the base: ultra-thin skin (0.03mm) is the most realistic and lasts 2–4 months; lace 3–5 months; mono 6–12 months with care. Each product page states its expected lifespan — most wearers keep 4–6 systems a year in rotation.
How do I care for it?
Wash 1–2× a week with sulfate-free products, condition the lengths, air-dry on a stand, and clean adhesive residue off the base at each re-bond. The full routine is in our Maintenance Guide.
Do you sell the adhesives and care products?
The Studio Maintenance Kit add-on covers your first 3 months (adhesive, remover, scalp prep, comb) — add it to any system in one click.
Can a damaged system be saved?
Often, yes — small tears and thinning areas are fixable. Email photos to support@follicstudio.com and we'll tell you honestly whether it's worth repairing or replacing.
