What to expect — and what not to
The first thing to unlearn is the word 'wig'. A modern system is a thin, breathable base with 100% human hair tied into it, matched to your color and blended into your own side growth. Worn correctly, it is genuinely undetectable — the most common report from new wearers is that nobody notices, including people who see them every day. What it is not is maintenance-free: expect a short learning curve over your first two or three attachments, after which the whole routine settles into about half an hour a week.
Choosing your first base
For a first system we steer most men toward skin (poly) or a hybrid base. Ultra-thin poly bonds in minutes with tape or adhesive, is the most forgiving to attach and clean, and handles swimming and the gym. A hybrid — lace at the hairline, poly where you tape — gives you the most natural front with the easy hold of skin. French lace is the realism benchmark but asks a little more care, so it's a beautiful second system once the routine is second nature. Get the fit right before you order
Two numbers decide the fit: front-to-back and side-to-side across your thinning area — five minutes with a soft tape and a mirror (see the Size & Measuring Guide). When between sizes, order up; a base is cut down to your shape, never stretched. Your first application
Your first day is where most first-timers feel nervous, so we remove the friction: order the Starter Pack and your system arrives pre-cut and styled, with an application and care kit (adhesive, remover, scalp prep and a comb) and a step-by-step first-application guide. Work slowly, prep a clean dry scalp, set the hairline first with the mirror, then press the perimeter down from front to back. If it isn't perfect the first time, remove and redo it — that's normal, and nothing is wasted.
Settling into a routine
After the first couple of weeks, most wearers land on a simple weekly rhythm: remove, clean the base and scalp, re-bond, style. Because systems are consumables — a skin base lasts 2–4 months of daily wear, lace 3–6, mono 6–12 — many keep a second in rotation so there's never a gap, which also doubles each system's calendar life.
